Wonder why you have spyware..ban kid sites

Hat tip to instapundit.

This article showes how well known kid sites are targetting your pc's with spyware/adware.

Children were the biggest target for spyware makers, by far. The trip to several kids' sites installed a whopping 359 pieces of adware on Symantec's PCs, five times more than the nearest category rival, travel. Popup ads proliferated on the machines after that, making them virtually unusable.
I bet they would take legal action against us if we decided to put stuff on the sites machines :-(

No wonder my pc stays fairly clean :-) I don't let the kids use it.

Kerry is....but he isn't

From the Boston Globe:

The caveat emperor

AT THIS POINT it comes as no surprise. John Kerry is releasing all his military records -- but then again, he isn't.

The devil is usually in the details. With Kerry, it's also in the dodges and digressions.

Kerry = Clear as Mud and as straight as an "S" turn.

Leaving the Left

Leaving the Left is a very good article to leave the "Left" without a far right mantra. About a 5 minute read.
Nightfall, Jan. 30. Eight-million Iraqi voters have finished risking their lives to endorse freedom and defy fascism. Three things happen in rapid succession. The right cheers. The left demurs. I walk away from a long-term intimate relationship. I'm separating not from a person but a cause: the political philosophy that for more than three decades has shaped my character and consciousness, my sense of self and

christianity with cojones

Christianity with Cojones
When I saw the name of this post, I had to read it.

One of the commentors said:
Chesterton said that the pacifist is one who teaches that if a man sees another man beating a woman to death he must not strike him. Chesterton said he'd rather expose a boy to a leper than a man like that.

Kathy did it :-)

SHE DID IT!!!!!!
Kathy is graduating with her Sociology degree tonight after many years of night classes. Here GPA is 3.9 something. How she did that while taking care of a husband and five kids, I have no idea.

So if any of the three readers of this blog see her, say CONGRATS!!
...or you can leave a comment :-)

Worse than smoking but it is preferred

per President Aristotle
Satinover here offers more evidence for what I would take to be a key part of an Aristotelian critique of...X... conduct (at least among men): it is contrary to natural law, and it places those who practice it at severe medical risk. To put it differently, the medical risk involved in ...X... conduct is vastly greater than that involved with cigarette smoking. Yet no one would accuse those who try to end smoking of being bigoted or prejudiced against smokers.
I put the X's in go see what it is here.

His follow up post here.

America is dead?

You should go look at this over at Riding Sun.

This quote from his site seems to be too easy:

If I were to offer Newsweek a suggestion, it would be this: Any story or cover you're ashamed to run in America probably shouldn't be used in other countries, either.
Instapundit and LGF also have links

Cole did it :-(

He did it :-(
Cole was practicing his new skill of riding a bike at the neighbors yesterday and wrecked. Per the emergency room, he has small fracture on his elbow. We have to take him to the orthopedic surgeon today to have them take a look at it. Please say a little pray for the boy because the elbow can be a trickey area to have a problem.

Church and Politics

There are news articles like this from CNN about a church in Waynesville NC where my sister lives. It even made papers in the UK. It is real funny how a small paster makes a statement saying abortion is wrong and may have leaned torward a canidate that did not believe in abortion. The press go nuts with the false seperation of church and state thing.

BUT.........

When Kerry seemed to be campaigning at a different church every Sunday during the campaign, the MSM covered it just like it was just another campaign stop with no indignation over him talking it up in a church. The likes of Jesse "shakedown" Jackson and Rev. Al "not-so" Sharpton were stumping on pulpits for Kerry and no one said a thing. I guess as long as you sacrifice a baby at the alter, you can campaign how you want.

Thomas Sowell on illegal immigration

Thomas Sowell chimes in on Illegal Immigration:
Virtually every job in the country is work that Americans will not do, if the pay is below a certain level. And the pay will not rise to that level so long as illegal immigrants -- "undocumented workers" -- are available to work for less.

Even those who write editorials about how we need Mexicans to do work that Americans will not do would not be willing to write editorials for a fraction of what they are being paid. If Mexican editorial writers were coming across the border illegally and taking their jobs, maybe the issue would become clearer.
This is a must read.

...and here are some recent quotes from good ole Thomas :-)

How can you be an "insurgent" in someone else's country? Yet despite the fact that the wave of terrorism in Iraq is led by an outside terrorist who is murdering Iraqis, our media still calls his terror campaign an "insurgency."

Everyone is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty -- in a court of law. But we cannot just mindlessly repeat words outside the context in which they apply. If you discovered that your spouse had been secretly checking into motels with someone else, would you presume innocence until proven guilty?

If the government gave a $5,000 subsidy to anyone who buys an automobile, do you doubt that the price of automobiles would go up -- perhaps by $5,000? Why then does no one see any connection between government subsidies to college students and rising tuition?

People who oppose the privatization of Social Security call it "a risky scheme." But is anything more risky than turning money over to politicians and hoping that they won't spend it before you retire? They have been spending the "trust fund" for decades.

Time and again, over the centuries, price controls have produced three things: shortages, quality deterioration and black markets. Why would anyone want any of those things with pharmaceutical drugs?

A Jihad that is not there....but you better be scared

When Columnists Cry 'Jihad' by John McCandlish Phillips is an interesting article relating to the names given to the Christian Right and the revision of American History.

Maryland closes classrooms to parents

I heard about this on the G. Gordon Liddy show yesterday on the way the pharmacy. I was going to write about it but Powerline has already done it here. The screw-al policy is for the school to have the classrooms open for parents to know what is going on. Since they are teaching the kids about the 9-types of families, it is too much for the parents to be able to understand. (yes I said NINE)

From powerline
As I mentioned, this is a "pilot" program. A "citizens advisory committee" is supposed to collect feedback from students, teachers, and parents and make a recommendation to the school board as to whether to implement the program county-wide. Which makes it seem particularly odd that parents will not be allowed to observe the program in action. Moreover, Michelle Turner of the Citizens for Responsible Curriculum says that teachers are refusing to supply parents with copies of the curriculum or the course resource materials. This looks like the nanny state with a twist -- a nanny who is partial to alternative life-styles
This is something to be concerned about.....and not only Maryland.
